Female Leaders Shaping Global Philanthropy: A Program of the Network of Engaged International Donors

The Kavelman Group congratulates three outstanding women appointed within the last year to major leadership roles in global philanthropy: Julia Bator, Executive Director of the J.M. Kaplan Fund; Beatriz de la Torre, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Trinity Church Wall Street; and Latanya Mapp, President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. All were recently honored by the Network of Engaged International Donors (NEID) at a program held on April 30th at Trinity Commons, moderated by Buff Kavelman, TKG President and NEID Global Ambassador.

The panelists related professional and personal experiences that informed their leadership. Buff and the panel also explored what it means to lead U.S. philanthropies undertaking global work during this incredibly complex moment—with wrenching conflicts, humanitarian crises, and threats from online disinformation to climate change.

Together NEID donors contribute over $1.27 billion annually on every continent around the world, often focusing on urgent needs related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The panelists shared their vision for how our sector should be showing up at this time and engaged in an exchange of ideas with the audience of individual donors and foundation leaders. Many participants gathered after the program to discuss how they might join forces to increase their impact in the future
